Saud Siddique
Mr
Saud Siddique is both a Director and the Chief
Executive Officer of the Trustee-Manager. He was
appointed as a Director on 28 September 2007.
He is responsible for the general management of
the business trust with an overall responsibility
for HWT's performance.
Prior
to joining the Trustee-Manager, Mr Siddique was
the Group Executive Vice-President, Global Infrastructure
at Hyflux Ltd where he was responsible for leading
the development of the Hyflux Group's infrastructure
business globally (including water), the India
operations, and assisting the Group's Chief Executive
Officer and President in overseeing the Group's
China and Middle East and North Africa markets,
as well as its Engineering, Procurement and Construction
business globally. In India, Mr Siddique was leading
Hyflux's team in developing several water and
waste water treatment and recycling projects in
West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.
Prior
to joining Hyflux in 2007, Mr Siddique was with
International Finance Corporation ("IFC"),
the private sector arm of the World Bank Group,
from 1991 to 2007. At IFC, Mr Siddique led investment
teams on project financing, structured debt and
equity investments, in the infrastructure and
financial markets sectors in Asia and Latin America.
He was responsible for one of the first and many
subsequent investments by IFC in infrastructure
in Peoples' Republic of China. He was also responsible
for IFC's investment in Infrastructure Development
Finance Company in India. In the East Asia Pacific
Region, he has identified and evaluated a number
of water projects and companies. He was also in
charge of structuring and investing in several
investment funds, including the Scudder Latin
America Power Fund, the first infrastructure fund
for emerging markets, the Asia Mezzanine Infrastructure
Fund, and Profund, IFC's first investment in the
microlending sector. Prior to joining IFC, Mr
Siddique was with Swiss Bank Corporation in New
York from 1985 to 1991, where he was responsible
for structured financing transactions in the United
States of America, including municipal finance,
leveraged buyouts, leveraged leasing, and asset-backed
securitisation. During 1981 to 1983, Mr Siddique
worked for an economic consulting firm in Washington
D.C.. Mr Siddique has more than 25 years of experience
in international banking and finance and economic
consulting, and investing in water and water-related
infrastructure assets
Mr
Siddique obtained a Bachelor of Science degree
in Computer Science from the University of Maryland,
College Park, United States of America in 1981,
and a Masters in Business Administration from
the Cornell University, United States of America
in 1985.
